Police!? All of this for running a stop sign? Is this JUST?
A 21-year-old black man justifiably panicked when several cops pulled guns on him and repeatedly screamed, “Show me your hands” … even though he was clearly already showing them.
The incident played out in Midland, Texas on May 16 but video of the arrest started circulating late last week. It’s going viral now due to George Floyd’s deadly arrest in Minneapolis, because it underscores the tense dynamic between African-Americans and police … even during something as minor as running a stop sign.
Who is Officer Derek Chauvin?
Derek Chauvin is the former officer in the video seen around the world with his knee on Floyd’s neck. He’d been with Minneapolis police for 19 years.
Chauvin has been involved in use-of-force situations before. According to a Pioneer Press article, Chauvin shot a man during a domestic assault call in 2008.
Acclaimed actor Denzel Washington needs to be recognized for his astute character as a man and a citizen.
Denzel Washington came to the aid of a man in West Hollywood last week after he spotted the individual in a distressed state while surrounded by several police officers, according to a video that has since gone viral on social media.
