I remember just where I was when the news began to SPREAD! It was 13 years ago today that I was RUSHING HOME from work to get to a TV hoping it was a HOAX– it wasn’t. Nine years ago today the MUSIC almost STOPPED around the WORLD….The King of Pop was no longer here on this EARTH! It was SHOCKING it was DEVASTATING, and UNBELIEVABLE! It shook us to our CORE. AND 13 years later, we still are MISSING Michael Jackson! TODAY we REMEMBER the LEGACY and the LIFE of Michael!
“Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough” was the first short film of Michael Jackson’s solo career, filmed in 1979 for the No. 1 hit single from ‘Off the Wall.’ “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough,” directed by Nick Saxon, was the jumping off point for the elaborate and groundbreaking “short films” Michael would go on to create throughout his career.
“Rock With You” was Michael Jackson’s second short film, filmed in 1979 for the second No. 1 hit single from ‘Off the Wall.’ The Bruce Gowers-directed short film, featuring Michael dancing in a sequined jumpsuit and matching boots against a set of shimmering lasers, was ranked No. 6 on a list of Michael’s 20 greatest videos by Rolling Stone.
“”Billie Jean”” was the first short film made for ‘Thriller,’ the biggest-selling album of all time. The short film for this No. 1 single, directed by Steve Barron, made history as the first video by a black artist to receive heavy rotation on MTV, and was later ranked by the network as one of the 100 greatest music videos of all time.
For the first short film for one of five consecutive record-breaking No. 1 hits from Bad, Michael Jackson and director Martin Scorsese created an epic 18-minute tale of urban and racial challenges in the 1980s. “Bad” was named the second greatest of Michael’s short films by Rolling Stone in 2014.
Shot on location in Chicago, the “Jam” short film paired Michael Jackson and NBA superstar Michael Jordan for a one-of-a-kind one-on-one match of basketball and stunning dance moves and cameos from Kriss Kross and Heavy D!
The first track on Michael Jackson’s album, XSCAPE, is “Love Never Felt So Good” which was “contemporized” by producer (and Michael Jackson Estate Co-Executor) John McClain. This version of the video for the song celebrates Michael and a recording which makes everyone who hears it want to get up and dance just like all of the dancers featured in the video.
Michael Jackson…KING OF POP FOREVER!!!!!
