Fans of the BET series, ‘Boomerang’ don’t hold your breath for a season 3. Executive producer Lena Waithe has confirmed that the show will NOT be returning to BET!
Waithe revealed the news in a tribute video she posted on Instagram. In the caption, she wrote, “I am so proud of this series, thank ya’ll for watching Boomerang! It’s been a wonderful journey building and rocking with everyone, so thank you for riding with us. We had a such a great run for 2 seasons, a lot of amazing folks contributed time and energy into this show. Thank you to all the writers, actors, directors, and crew who came through for this production, we’re so honored we had the opportunity to do this together. Lots of love and light as we come to the end of the road. Sending ya’ll so much love.”
No word on WHY the series was canceled.
Based on the 1992 rom-com starring Berry, Eddie Murphy and Robin Givens, this series followed lives of Jacqueline Boyer’s son, Bryson (Tequan Richmond) and Marcus and Angela Graham’s daughter, Simone (Tetona Jackson) as they try to step out of their parents’ shadows and make a legacy of their own.
The series also starred Leland B. Martin, Lala Milan, Brittany Inge and RJ Walker. Original film star Halle Berry executive produced the series with Waithe. Dime Davis and Angeli Millan were the second season’s showrunners.
The show was good. Bummed that it has come to an end… but maybe it can be REVIVED on another NETWORK? Fans of the SHOW, get to work to see if you can revive it…
