FANS of the UBER hit ‘Sex and the City’ franchise have had their hearts DASHED over and over again when it comes to getting a ‘SATC3’ from the four ladies, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker. There was even a SCRIPT READY for the movie and 3 of the four were on board, but Cattrall spoke out HARSHLY about ever revisiting her feisty character again causing the project to be shelved once again.
SJP recently sat down with Andy Cohen on Bravo’s ‘Watch What Happens Live’ where he DRILLED Parker about the possibility of the movie happening and all the DRAMA surrounding the movie.
Cohen asked what Parker thought of her former co-star Kim Cattrall’s comments to Piers Morgan about how she was never friends with any of her co-stars on the hit HBO series. Parker shared how she felt openly.
Just heartbroken,” Parker, who played Carrie Bradshaw in the series, admitted. “I mean that whole week, you and I spoke about it endlessly, because I was just, I don’t know, I found it very upsetting because that’s not the way I recall our experience. It’s sad, but I always think that what ties us together was this singular experience. It was a professional experience but it became personal because it was years and years of our lives, so I hope that that eclipses anything that’s been recently spoken. That many years spent doing something so special that people had a connection with it is such a privilege.”
Andy then asked if they had considered moving forward with the movie WITHOUT ‘Samantha’, otherwise having the character ‘killed off’,or having her just be out of the picture, instead of trying to replace her.
“I think once everybody has thoroughly experienced the grieving process then Michael Patrick [King] can go back and sort of ponder what he might want to do and how he might want to proceed,” she said of the show’s creator. “That’s the most clear answer I’ve given yet!”
Cohen also brought up the possibility of Sharon Stone taking on the role of Samantha, to which Parker replied, “You’re not the first person that said it. I think it’s a really interesting idea, yeah.”
But HARDCORE fans of the series and movies probably would DISAGREE. These four ladies have FORGED an indelible impression into POP CULTURE that it wouls just not be RIGHT if someone else were to take the place of one. It’s either ALL or NOTHING. But I have optimism that this may someday come to pass. I mean in most cases if you throw enough money at a situation, people tend to come around. But with Cattrall, I don’t think it is an issue of money. With the public’s WANT and NEED for this CHAPTER to be wrapped up, I think maybe she will eventually come around. Well at least we can CROSS our fingers on this, ‘Sam Jones’. Let’s just keep calling her name and maybe she will appear. FANS, keep HOPE alive….
